Food brings everyone together: eating seasonally, sharing stories and recipes, learning about other country’s cuisines, and food system.

This 4-H project will delve into the local and global food scene. If you like to eat, make new friends, learn cooking skills and try new things this is the project for you! This a family friendly project. If you are an adult and would like to help co-lead this summer project call the office. This is a tasty way to develop skills and gain confidence in becoming a 4-H leader.

Food for thought: here are some ideas to get you thinking. Do we want to have a cuisine theme? Do we want to prepare meals using local ingredients? Do we want to try recipes from around the globe? Do we want to prepare a dish and bring it to share at our Supper club? Do we want a rotating “team” to work on a meal? The team can give an informal presentation about the meal such as sharing the history and recipes and why they picked what they did? Let’s cook up some fun this summer.

First dinner date will be Thursday June 21, 2018 from 6 pm-8 pm. This will be an organizational meeting of the Stone Soup Supper Club. The CCE 4-H program encourages all 4-H Youth to bring one ingredient such as a chopped up vegetable or herb for our pot of Stone Soup. You can also bring a complimentary item such as bread, butter, fruit, or dessert.

If you have read or heard the fable of Stone Soup fable before, the message is that by sharing ideas and resources surprisingly good things can be created. At this organizational meeting, we will plan three meal events (July, August, September) to make and share together. Bring a friend and introduce them to Essex County 4-H program.
