Range of Motion

Range of Motion (ROM) Exercise is a program for better living!

This program was designed for anyone with arthritis or related rheumatic diseases or musculoskeletal conditions, ranging from people who are older, sedentary and very limited by impaired joint mobility to those who are relatively active with only mild limitations. Participation is encouraged for all seniors since the focus is overall improvement of range of motion (ROM). Check out the ROM Facebook Page: ROM Facebook Page . Program general goals:

  • Provide participants with an enjoyable, safe exercise program
  • Encourage positive social interaction among participants
  • Decrease depression and improve mood
  • Maintain and/or improve physical abilities
  • Improve performance of daily activities

Specific physical goals:

  • Reduce pain and stiffness
  • Restore or maintain joint range of motion
  • Improve balance and coordination
  • Decrease fatigue and increase endurance
  • Improve overall perceived health

Program Outcomes

  • Reduce levels of pain, stiffness and fatigue
  • Improved strength
  • Improved ability to function independently in day to day life
  • Decrease levels of depression
  • Increase self-efficacy
  • Improved overall health status and activity
